Well, another wine trip is in the books! I have to be honest, as much as I loved Virginia from different family vacations growing up, I never thought I’d love be so obsessed with a state so much. I mean, c’mon – there was Busch Gardens (awesome), then there was JMU…..need I say more? Well, okay, I’ll say more. Whether it’s the hiking trails, the arboretums, the festivals, or (my personal favorite) the wineries – there’s always a new adventure down the nearest highway.
A few weekends ago, we actually travelled to a combo winery/cidery where we picked up a map that covers the entire state of Virginia- listing out all the wineries by different areas. My husband and I decided (okay, well maybe more I decided), we should check off the ones we’ve been to and try to eventually hit all of them! It’s a bit of an extensive goal, but why not live large 🙂
Cana Vineyard & Winery in Middleburg was the winery of choice this weekend. The grounds were stunning, but tucked away down a few dirt roads. The wines were different blends, noting that they actually outsource their grapes from other areas of Virginia (and Pennsylvania). We would highly recommend doing a tasting here – being able to taste in the barrel room was by far, one of the coolest experiences.
Until next time,
